Gillian Sutherland

Gillian Sutherland is Director of Marine within APEM, a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy. She has over 15 years of experience in environment and consenting of the offshore wind industry and stakeholder engagement.  Formerly Head of Environment with a global renewable utility Iberdrola, she has worked on all aspects of environmental compliance of offshore wind during development and construction stages and lifecycle ecological monitoring plans in UK, Germany and the US.  She has been actively engaged in influencing policy and environmental legislation relating to Strategic Environmental Assessment, EU Habitats and Birds Directives and Marine Spatial Framework Directive and on many technical steering groups working to key industry topics such as DEPONS and the UK Offshore Strategic Monitoring Research Forum. APEM specialise in digital aerial surveys of birds and marine mammals, marine ecology and protected species consulting including Environmental Impact Assessment, Habitats Regulations Assessment and statistical modelling.
